Shakya holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Central Florida, where his research was on making large language models run efficiently and stay up on real hardware — algorithm–system co-design for LLM inference serving.

That is the same problem NeuraPBX solves in a different setting. A phone system cannot drop a call because a model is slow or a machine fell over, and running AI on your own server instead of someone else's is an engineering problem long before it is a privacy one. He has also taught computer architecture, embedded systems and machine learning at UCF, and his published work appears at MLSys, ASAP, ICMLA and IEEE CIC.

Why it exists
Business phone systems went to the cloud, and the recordings, transcripts and now the AI analysis of every conversation went with them. For most companies that trade was invisible and irreversible: your customers' voices, your staff's calls, and increasingly a language model's reading of both, all sitting on somebody else's servers under somebody else's terms.
NeuraPBX is the other option. It is a full enterprise PBX built on FreeSWITCH, with the AI features you would expect from a modern system — receptionist, agent copilot, live transcription, spam screening, compliance redaction — and it runs on your server. The AI can run entirely locally, on Ollama and faster-whisper, so a call can be transcribed and analysed without a single byte leaving the building. No per-seat AI fee, and no third party in the middle of the conversation.
